Our very popular mid-season outdoor horse rugs have a 600 denier ripstop, waterproof breathable outer. It has a mid/light 100gsm polyfill with a breathable nylon lining, quick clip adjustable chest straps, front shoulder gusset, cross-over surcingles, leg straps, no back seam, large pleated tailguard with reflective stripe, fixed neck cover and strengthened surcingle guides.
Ideal mid/light weight for horses that do not require heavyweight outdoor rugs or perfect for mid season.

To find the perfect rug size you will need to measure your horse from the centre of their chest to the furthest point of their hind quarters, nearly to the tail. In doing this you will find the length, using our size guide you can determine the size of the rug that best fits your horse. We recommend using a soft tape measure for this.
Rugs are defined by their weight, i.e the grammes2 (gsm) of polyfill used. The higher the gsm means there is more insulation squeezed into each square metre, which keeps your horse warmer. Our rugs range from Lightweight with no fill, Mid lightweight with 50gsm-200gsm, Mediumweight with 200gsm-250gs and Heavyweight with 300gsm- 350gsm. You will be able to decide which weight rug you will need according to the seasons and overall temperature and/or weather.
The denier of the outer fabric is also significant. The higher the denier number the thicker the weave, the stronger the fabric. This will generally be much more durable and potentially have a longer life. Rhinegold rugs all have a high denier to ensure the rugs have a low chance of ripping.
Neck covers will increase the diversity of any outdoor or indoor rug with quick and easy attachments. These can be found in a range of sizes to fit your horse, Extra Small-Extra Large, you can use the size of your horse’s rug to determine which size neck cover you may need. Some of our rugs may come with a neck cover included.
